the San Francisco Bay Area
and Southern California.
It works with Roots & Rhythm
Playhouse to provide staff and
participants with counseling
training on violence prevention
and life skills, as well
as provide access to Omega’s
renowned college scholarship

Brava!
Theatre Center

The Brava! Theatre Center is a
nationally recognized theatre
organization located in San
Francisco’s Mission District.
Among their goals is to contribute
to the neighborhood by providing
cultural, economic, and social
opportunities that will improve
the lives of the primarily Latino
resident population, particularly
it’s youth. Brava! Theatre Center
provides trained high school interns
to Roots & Rhythm Playhouse to
assist with and teach set design,
sound, and
lighting. |

Upward Bound is a highly
successful, college-based
program of rigorous academic
instruction, individual tutoring
and guidance counseling for
low income disadvantaged high
school students, most of whom
are the first generation of their
families to consider postsecondary
education. The University of San
Francisco chapter of Upward Bound
provides college counseling and
guidance to Roots & Rhythm’s high
school-aged instructors to assist
them in continuing their education. |

Young Community Developers
is a non-profit community and
economic development agency
located in the Bayview Hunter’s
Point section of San Francisco.
Their program, entitled Chocolate
City 2, provides basic skills
instruction and cultural and
employment training to at-risk
teens, while teaching them to
become responsible and
accountable to themselves, their
families and their communities.
